Pearly Hanger for Doll Clothes

This is quite an easy way to make your own doll clothes hangers. All you need is:
Helmihenkarien valmistus on melko helppoa, tarvitset sorminäppäryyden lisäksi:

* thin metal wire ohutta metallilankaa
* small beads (diameter ca. 5 mm) pieniä askarteluhelmiä (halkaisija n. 5 mm)
* scissors sakset
* craft pliers askartelupihdit

* a rounded pencil pyöreävartinen kynä

1. You need ca. 40 cm (15,6'') metal wire for one hanger. Fold the thin metal wire first in two and then twist it around your pencil. Twist the four wires around each other in about 3 cm length.
Tarvitset n. 40 cm ohutta askarteluun tarkoitettua metallilankaa. Taita lanka ensin kaksinkerroin ja kierrä se sitten keskikohdastaan pyöreän kynän ympäri. Kieputa neljää metalli-langansäiettä toistensa ympäri n. 3 cm matkalta.

2. Take 8 beads and thread them through the two wires.
Pujota kahdeksan helmeä kahden metallilangan lävitse.

3. Take the first metal wire and thread it through three beads. Twist it tight between the beads and cut off the rest.
Ota toinen metallilangoista ja pujota se takaisinpäin kolmen helmen lävitse. Kierrä lanka tiukasti helmien väliin ja leikkaa loppupätkä pois.

4. Twist the second wire between the two last beads and cut off the rest.
Kierrä toinen metallilanka kahden viimeisen helmen väliin ja leikkaa loppupätkä pois.

5. Now do the same on the other side of the hanger.
Tee samalla tavalla henkarin toisella puolella.

6. Cut the circle through. Take one more bead and put it into the wire. Twist the wires around the bead and bend a hook. You are ready!
Leikkaa alussa tehty silmukka kahtia. Pujota yksi helmi metallilankaan ja taivuta molemmat langat helmen ympärille. Taivuta vielä ripustuskoukku ja olet valmis!

Basic Trousers for both BB and TNT girls

Materials you need:
Tarvitset seuraavat materiaalit:

* Cotton fabric, peace of an old and sheer sheet suits well!
* puuvilla kangaspala, esim. vanha lakananpala sopii hyvin!
* 2-3 cm (0,78-1,17'') velcro tape or 2 very small snaps
* 2-3 cm tarranauhaa tai kaksi pikkuruista nepparia
* sewing thread
* ompelukonelankaa
* you need also a small needle :)
* tarvitset myös silmäneulan

I've worked the trousers completly with a sewing machine. You can of course hand needle some of the seams, the leg back seam specially might be easier to make with hand needle, because the BB Barbie has bigger hips than TNT body you do need to try the trausers on her to see, how to get them to fit perfectly so that you still are able to dress and undress her.
Ompelin housut kokonaan ompelukoneella. :)

1. Draw the pattern from below. Be sure you check all the measurements exactly. When you cut the fabric peaces, you don't have to add any seam allowances, they are included. If you close some of the seams with an overlock machine, you need to increase seam allowances.

2. Close trousers side seams.
Ompele housunlahkeiden ulkosaumat yhteen oikeat puolet vastakkain.

3. Overedge trousers hems.
Ompele lahkeensuut kääntämällä reuna nurjalle puolelle.

4. Close trousers inseams.
Ompele lahkeiden sisäsaumat oikeat puolet vastakkain.

5. Turn one leg inside out. Insert right-side-out leg into inside-out leg. Sew up front crotch seam. Turn legs right side out. Käännä toinen lahkeista oikein päin. Pujota juuri käännetty lahje nurinpäin olevan lahkeen sisään. Ompele etuhaarasauma. Käännä lahkeet oikein päin.

6. Turn the flaps on the back into the backside and attach Waistband (3). Before you sew waistband, check both ends of the waistband that the length is right. Käännä takakappaleiden läpät nurjalle puolelle ja ompele vyötärönauha kiinni vyötäröön. Huolittele ennen kiinnitystä vyötärökaitaleen molemmat reunat.

7. Sew the hard side of the velcro tape (the hooked one) over the flap (that is into the backside) :) ... Halve the tape so that it isn't too wide. Ompele toisen takakeskisauman alle (siis nurjalle puolelle) tarranauhan kovempi koukkupuoli. Tarranauhan leveys kannattaa puolittaa, ettei housuista tule liian tönköt.

8. Sew the softer side of the velcro tape over the flap - now into the right side. Make sure you leave velcro tape couple of millimetre over the back seam. Ompele tarranauhan pehmeämpi puoli toisen takakappaleen reunan oikean puolen päälle niin, että tarranauha on muutaman millin housun keskitakareunan ulkopuolella.

Instead of velcro tape you can use small snaps for closing the back seam. Voit käyttää myös pieniä neppareita takasauman sulkemiseen.

When you are ready, back side should look like this:

1. Front 2. Back 3. Waistband

Barbie celebrates her 50th today!

If that's not a reason to start this blog today, I don't know what is. I'm a Barbie hobbyist, but not much of a collector of new dolls, I buy play-line Barbie dolls from flea markets or from other hobbyists.

I start this blog for two reasons: First of all, I've noticed, it's very hard to find any kind of free sewing patterns for 11'' (29 cm) dolls in internet. That is why I started to create my own sewing patterns about a year ago and now I have quite a lot of them. I'm going to share them with all of you, who are interested in sewing clothes for 11'' dolls. In this blog I will share also other DIY things for Barbie dolls like furnitures, accessoires etc. All patterns and instructions are created by me. You can copy them and use them, but they are here for your private use only.

The other reason for writing this blog is: I'm desperately trying to prove my English, so feel free to comment and correct my texts! :)
